Environmental Commitment

Ombligo's environmental integrity inspires us to identify new and innovative ways of reusing and recycling IT equipment. Ombligo's environmental objective is to refurbish and resell "used" and "out-of-service" IT equipment while reducing and tracking electronic waste.

Ombligo regularly reviews our operations and procedures to drive continual improvement. We set performance targets for our environmental aspects and strive to reach them. In addition, we adhere to all national, state and local environmental laws and regulations that affect our operations. These efforts contribute to our commitment to prevent pollution.

Our belief is that Ombligo’s sustainability is not limited to our own four walls. For that reason, we collaborate with our clients to ensure we are improving their environmental operations by reusing or recycling their out of date electronics.

In addition, we closely monitor our downstream vendors to ensure that they are properly disposing of materials in an environmentally friendly way and in compliance with environmental laws.

Ombligo is dedicated to continual improvement in all of its activities, especially those activities that impact the environment. This is achieved through rigorous process management and employee empowerment and accountability for achieving all company goals and objectives.

Environmental Objectives

Target aspects and objectives are outlined in three main environmental aspects: e-waste & recycling, electricity and occupational health & safety.

• Objective 1 - E-waste and Recycling
  Track all e-waste sent to downstream vendors. Ensure that 100% of e-waste has been disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Measure - Calculated as total e-waste sent to downstream vendors/total e-waste disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
  • Activities:
    • Monthly reporting from downstream vendor
    • Annual letter from downstream vendor detailing disposal of materials
    • Annual walkthrough of downstream vendor facility
• Objective 2 - Electricity
  Measure annual electric usage to determine baseline.
  • Measure: Calculated by measuring electricity in kWh on a monthly basis.
  • Activities: Track electric usage from bills from utility provider.
• Objective 3 - Occupational Health & Safety
  Ensure 100% of staff is properly trained regarding occupational health & safety. Develop appropriate training materials.
  • Measure: Calculated by measuring percentage of staff trained
  • Activities:
    • Safety video development: develop safety video to include all relevant health & safety processes, including emergency preparedness and response
    • Safety video viewing by staff
    • Records of staff training
